What is Nexgard Combo for Cats?
Nexgard combo is a multi spectrum spot-on treatment for cats. It protects your feline from a wide range of parasites. The topical treatment for cats kills the external parasites like fleas and ticks and cures the infection caused due to internal worms. Along with killing fleas, it also prevents re-infestation of fleas and ticks for four weeks and five weeks, respectively.
The treatment is composed of a triad of active substances consisting of esfoxolaner, eprinomectin, and praziquantel. It kills fleas within 24 hours of administration. It terminates flea before they lay eggs preventing household contamination. Within 48 hours of administration, existing ticks are killed. It is also efficient is treating roundworms, hookworms, tapeworms, ear mites and preventing deadly heartworm infestations.
How does Nexgard Combo for Cats Work?
Nexgard combo is made with three active ingredients that function in different ways to kill external and internal parasites. Esafoxolaner acts as an ectoparasiticide, having efficacy in killing external parasites that live on feline skin. After application of the treatment, the substance invades the nerve cells of parasites through neurotransmission- (neuron signals); this disrupts the nervous system of fleas and ticks resulting into their termination.
Esafoxolaner acts on flea nerve cells before it lays eggs so household contamination is prevented. Active ingredient Praziquantel and Eprinomectin work against internal worms. Praziquantel attacks on the cell membrane of tapeworms resulting in its termination. Similarly, Eprinomectin will paralyze roundworms by disrupting its nerve and muscle cells and prevents heartworms.
