Popantel allwormer Tablet For Dogs

What is Popantel?

Popantel is an allwormer tablet specially made for dogs for the control of all gastrointestinal worms including roundworm, hookworm, whipworm and tapeworm (encompassing hydatid tapeworm). It also prevents re-infestation. Since this dewormer uses encapsulated ingredients it is very easy to administer in dogs. Due to its palatable taste it is easier on the taste buds of dogs. It is very easy to swallow and easier to calculate the correct dosage that your dog requires.

How It Works?

Praziquantel, Oxantel embonate and Pyrantel embonate are the three ingredients present in Popantel. The combined effect of all these three ingredients results in treatment of different types of gastrointestinal worms in dogs. It paralyzes the nervous system of the parasite and gets rid of them from the dog through natural excretion. This oral treatment is highly useful in preventing further worm infection in dogs. With the regular dose of this ingenious treatment re-infestation of worms can be prevented in dogs.

How to Use
Directions

  • The very first step is to weigh your pet
  • Administer the tablet according to the appropriate sized tablet or combination of tablets
  • Administer the tablet directly into the mouth of the pet
  • Make sure that all the food is eaten by your for effectiveness of the treatment

Dosage:

  • One tablet per 10 kg bodyweight is standard
  • Round up the dosage to the nearest quarter tablet 
  • Up to 2.5 kg = 1/4 tab
  • 2.5 to 5 kg= 1/2 tab
  • 5 to 7.5 kg = 3/4 tab
  • 7.5 to 10 kg = 1 tab

Administration:

Types of worms Dosage
Roundworms and Hookworms Provide Popantel to puppies at 2, 4, 6 and 8 weeks and continue the treatment once every 3 months
Hydatid tapeworms Treat with Popantel every 6 weeks. During the treatment do not feed Offal to dogs.
Whipworms Treat puppies every 6 to 8 weeks after 3 months of age
Other worms Treat dogs with Popantel at an interval of 3 months regularly, which helps in protecting dogs from multiple intestinal infestations.

(Note: For pregnant and lactating bitches administer Popantel at mating, before whelping and then continue at an interval of 3 months.)

Safety
Safety

  • Keep out of reach of children and pets.
  • Popantel can be administered safely in puppies from 2 weeks of age along with pregnant females, breeding and lactating dogs.
  • Stock up the dewormer in a cool and dry place away from direct sunlight.

Contraindications:

  • Never administer this treatment on puppies less than 2 weeks of age.
  • If your dog is allergic to Popantel or any ingredients present in it do not administer to them.
